Weekend in Klaipeda and Palanga

Saturday I made a trip to Klaipėda with the ESN.

Klaipėda, is the main port of the Lithuanian Sea. It is the third largest city in Lithuania after Vilnius and Kaunas.

I went to a dolphinarium where I could see a show with dolphins and sea lions.

I did not like this activity because the dolphins were for me in unsuitable conditions.

They were 6 in a small basin and seemed to be very hungry. (I think the fish we gave them during the performance were their meals and not just a reward in addition to their food), the water was chlorinated and the dolphins had marks of fighting due to the size of the basin, I think. I find it very sad to subject this thing to animals in order to amuse people.

Then I went to see sand dunes, it was very pretty and very relaxing.

The next day I went to Palanga with the group we visited the city. It is a pretty tourist resort but very nice, I think to return in a few years because I really liked it. There was a lot of activity and a great atmosphere.

I am very happy to have made this trip and to have discovered another part of Lithuania. I love more and more this country which hides a lot of beautiful landscape and tradition.
